Project Quality

Tech test/demo for an idea I had a while ago, you are a quality inspector in a factory, checking a variety of items for defects and missing parts. You must pass or fail items as quickly as possible to set high scores and unlock new levels with new items and challenges. The items use randomised parts, some very obviously wrong, but some need a bit more of a close eye to spot.

Current State

As it stands, Project Quality has 2 levels, showcasing the 2 different modes, sharing 1 item type. Behind the scenes, the level and item data is fully modular and adding new levels and items would be fairly easy, so expanding on this game in future is a simple idea.

Levels unlock as you score well in others, to unlock the second level here, simply score one star in the first.

Current Issues

The biggest issue at the moment is the inconsistent art styles. I'm not an artist, my specialty is programming, so making art assets has been a challenge. This is made worse by the items being modular, so using existing assets is not an option, as they need to be made a certain way.

To Do

- A Cohesive Art Style

The current mix of styles is unpleasant, a rethink of the whole look would give me a chance to come up with something that is not just more focused, but more achievable.

- More Items

As I mentioned earlier, the item system is very easy to add more items to. It's just a case of coming up with them, creating models, texturing and assembling them in engine. 

- General Polish

I'm currently using a lot of default UI objects and fonts, making some new UI elements would make the project look a lot nicer. Putting a bit more time into animations and effects would give a better feel. Settings to make the game feel nicer for everyone. There's a list of small QoL additions to work on.
